Hej friend,
earlier this year, I vowed to bring back 040x040. Today I want to give you an update of what's happening in this space and how you can engage.
I've started the 10th anniversary interview series with two supernice Malmönians: Rebecka Nilsson and Andreas Hedin. They both have been down with 040x040 since its inception in 2015.
Andreas was visiting Hamburg for a trade fair a few weeks back – which happened to take place right across from where I live – so we sat down on my balcony to reminisce about his experience, the current state of creativity and ways to go forward with the format. AI was sort of the elephant in the room in both conversations– Andreas elaborated on why "finding a voice" matters in the fast-paced AI era, where speed and efficiency seem to be the dominant paradigm.
Rebecka explained why in her view, human creativity matters more than ever in the AI era. She shared her memories of a creativity-fueled Hamburg visit, back in the days when she was a student. I found it striking how Rebecka described why the pandemic widened the Hamburg–Malmö gap despite new infrastructure is being built (aka the new Fehmarnbelt crossing).
That's exactly why we're doing this again. To bring us all together again, in a safe, mingly fashion.
